Burning BedSilver dreams of youth unknown
Where demons played instead of gods.
We hid within a burning bed
To escape the nightmares brought to life.
When innocence was supposed to reign
We were forced instead to grow up too soon.
Fairy tales of youth we'd compare to our own
And send our wishes out to God.
The sweet moments escaped in our bed
We dreamt we lived another's life.
Kings and queens of heavenly reign
Fantasies to escape our doom.
But morning would find us still in our bed
Our prayers again unanswered by God.
Still tormented to live this life
The abuse, the terror, the unending pain.
We'd cradle our wounds while lying in bed
Dying DaySo many things I wanted to say—
There's no time left in this place.
Helpless I watch soul depart body
Angels smooth pain from your face.
Intimacy of death chokes words
Knowing it's the last time
Words fall short to express emotions
As you leave us behind.
I could lament the wasted years,
All that God took away.
Bu I choose to cherish all we had
Even past this dying day.
Mirrors CrackedThe words you see.
are they the thoughts I meant?
Surplus of feelings
emptied through a pen
to bloody a page
and release the pain.
But different eyes
view through their heart
and see the words
but see themselves.
My hopes and lies
viewed through mirrors cracked
distort the truth
to protect their own
so what they read
is what they need
their own truths
painted by my pain.
